In January of 2007, three young stoners from Miami Beach won a $300 million Department of Defense contract to supply ammunition to the Afghanistan military. Incredibly, instead of fulfilling the order with high-quality arms, Efraim Diveroli and David Packouz bought cheap Communist-style surplus ammunition from Balkan gunrunners. The pair then secretly repackaged millions of rounds of shoddy Chinese ammunition and shipped it to Kabul.

The book traces Manny's elaborate career of deviance: from his early experiences with gang life, to encounters with gambling, experiences in New York City, with Synanon and finally with the California Department of Corrections. The book provides descriptions that illustrate many key issues touched by the more abstract concepts of formalized theories of criminal behavior.

Octopus is a real-life thriller that tells the inside story of a GBP300 million hedge fund fraud and the wild-goose chase through Europe by its drug-fuelled manager for a lucrative "secret market" beneath the financial market we all know. Sam Israel was a man who seemed to have it all. Born into one of the world's richest families, he founded his own hedge fund, promising his investors guaranteed profits. But, after suffering devastating losses and faking tax returns, Israel knew his real performance would soon be discovered. So when a former CIA-operative turned conman told him about a "secret market" run by the Federal Reserve, Israel bet his last $150 million of other people's money on a chance to make it all back. So began his crazy year-long adventure in a world populated by clandestine bankers, conspiracy theories, and gun-toting spooks issuing cryptic warnings about a mysterious cabal known only as the Octopus.

The current state of theatre in Ireland has never been better. A relatively young playwright, Marina Carr, was recently chosen by a select committee in Ireland as one of Ireland's ten best living writers, along with two other dramatists, Brian Friel and Tom Murphy. Add these to the names of other fine dramatists such as Martin McDonagh, Thomas Kilroy, John B. Keane, Hugh Leonard, Eugene McCabe, and Jim Nolan, and it's clear to see that the state of Irish theatre today is strong. This collection of essays is a unique exploration of this topic. With contributions from seventeen of Ireland's leading cultural critics and authorities on theatre, this is one of the most important books to be published on Irish theatre for years. Included are pieces by Colm Toibin on Billy Roche; John Waters on Martin McDonagh; Ben Barnes on the Abbey; pieces on Irish theatre in the North, New York, and France; Donal O'Kelly; Irish women playwrights; Brian Friel; and Irish language theatre.

The famous Horse Wrangler here completes his story until his retirement. Following the experiences recorded in his former book, Floyd C. Bard moved through a series of fascinating careers which give a true picture of the West as it was a generation and more ago. First of the careers was that of Dude Wrangler. For summer after summer, Bard took the pack trains to all parts of the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming with parties of the Easterners called "dudes." Some trips lasted a few days; others for an entire summer. In his parties were the famous and the unknown, the scientist (with his outdoor classroom), the doctor, the financier, the famous politician--and many others. Life on the trail and in camp with these dudes meant much excitement for Bard. Then Bard called upon to hunt and kill the predatory animals of the areas--coyotes, dogs, and bears. Soon he became a government hunter and for several years turned in second largest catch of the season. He recounts many stories of the methods used to hunt the wily critters. Then he became, high upon the Big Horns, a summer line rider for cattle outfits, taking the herds to the summer range, riding the vast countryside to look after the cattle, and then helping to get them down in the fall. One little episode sandwiched into the account is that of the only time Bard became a move actor! In bringing this work to publication, Agnes Wright Spring -- who has had the singular distinction of serving both the state of Wyoming and the state of Colorado as official historian -- has preserved the language of Floyd C. Bard. Here it is the way he told it, and here are his comments upon the people he knew from all walks of life. All this makes for rich and authentic reading of a period of the West already gone. A number of pictures from the Bard family album enhance the value of this book -- Book jacket.

In November 2007, Gotham Books unleashed The Truth about Chuck Norris upon the world and changed publishing forever. Containing 400 farcical facts about pop culture icon Chuck Norris, the book burned through thirteen printings, roundhouse kicked the New York Times bestseller list, and left readers delighted (and a little bit terrified).... Now Ian Spector has returned to his voluminous vault to bring readers 200 new Chuck Norris facts alongside 200 facts about his longtime antagonist Mr. T, in a battle that pits foot against fist, beard against mohawk, and Delta Force against A-Team. Included in this fearsome tome are such startling observations as: ? There is nothing to fear but fear itself, and fear itself fears Chuck Norris. ? King Kong once challenged Godzilla to an arm-wrestling match. Mr. T won. ? The reason newborn babies cry is because they know they have just entered a world with Chuck Norris. ? The last man to make eye contact with Mr. T was Stevie Wonder. ? Chuck Norris is a man?s man?s man. ? Mr. T once beat a man to death with his own corpse. A hilarious tribute to two of the greatest humans who have ever lived, Chuck Norris vs Mr. T is the one book that can finally reveal what happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object.
