Do you feel down, depressed, or hopeless? Have you lost interest or pleasure in doing things? Do you know someone who might be depressed and want to help? Are you a Christian healer--health care provider, counselor, or clergy - and want to expand your knowledge base on depression? If you answer yes to any of these questions, this book may be of help to you. As a Christian family physician and educator for forty-three years and with seminary training, I have found that treating the whole person with clinical depression is the most likely way to be healed from this dreadful illness. There are now many real helps for those with clinical depression from the medical (including psychiatric), counseling, and pastoral care professions, especially from the Bible itself. I have suffered from seven clinical depressions, and most of my siblings and children have experienced at least one clinical depression--so I know what the issues are that face those of us who are depressed. I have also included real life examples of Christians who have suffered from depression, including me, as well as helpful quotations from Scripture and special prayers for those who are depressed.

Contemporary clergy often tell us the Lord’s return is imminent, but unknowable, and that Antichrist is anticipated, but unrecognizable prior to his debut. Does the Bible veil our advance understanding; or, does a loving all-powerful God show us the way before the great and dreadful day of the Lord? With uncommon insight, David Smith, unites history and mathematics to illustrate a revolutionary idea of prophetic symmetry. The Symmetry Solution is not "another" prophecy book. If you are looking for an original work that provides groundbreaking answers to the Lord’s wonderfully concealed prophecies, The Symmetry Solution is for you.

For Ireland the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries were an era marked by war, economic transformation, and the making and remaking of identities. By the 1630s the era of wars of conquest seemed firmly in the past. But the British civil wars of the mid-seventeenth century fractured both Protestant and Catholic Ireland along lines defined by different combinations of religious and political allegiance. Later, after 1688, Ireland became the battlefield for what was otherwise Britain's bloodless (and so Glorious) Revolution. The eighteenth century, by contrast, was a period of peace, permitting Ireland to emerge, first as a dynamic actor in the growing Atlantic economy, then as the breadbasket for industrialising Britain. But at the end of the century, against a background of international revolution, new forms of religious and political conflict came together to produce another period of multi-sided conflict. The Act of Union, hastily introduced in the aftermath of civil war, ensured that Ireland entered the nineteenth century still divided, but no longer a kingdom.

The common response to any attempt to read the chronological notations associated with the kings of Israel and Judah in the time of the divided monarchy is, perhaps, a shrug of the shoulders, or a statement to the effect that the problem is insoluble. Not only are the apparently contradictory--or confusing--notations of the MT a consideration, but the evidence of the other major versions seriously complicates any such undertaking. In the twentieth century, Edwin R. Thiele attempted to reconcile and wrangle all of the numbers into a semblance of order, with results that were far from convincing to his readers. Now Christine Tetley has attacked this knottiest of problems with fresh vigor and assayed a new solution. There is no doubt that this book will be controversial; nevertheless, it will be required reading for anyone who wishes to pin archaeological and historical data within the framework of an absolute chronology.

It is winter, somewhere in the United Kingdom, and an eight-year-old boy is removed from his home and family in the middle of the night. He learns that he is the victim of an extraordinary experiment. In an attempt to reform society, the government has divided the population into four groups, each representing a different personality type. The land, too, has been divided into quarters. Borders have been established, reinforced by concrete walls, armed guards and rolls of razor wire. Plunged headlong into this brave new world, the boy tries to make the best of things, unaware that ahead of him lies a truly explosive moment, a revelation that will challenge everything he believes in and will, in the end, put his very life in jeopardy ...

There is little available on the dramatic and colourful history of the Spanish monarchy. Experienced author and historian John Van der Kiste provides a readable and anecdotal look at one of the key European dynasties from the nineteenth century to the present. He begins with the wayward, ill-educated Isabella II, who was forced to marry her nephew. During much of her reign power was in the hands of her generals and her exile and abdication saw the crown of Spain hawked round Europe for two years. It was briefly accepted then refused by Prince Leopold of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen - thus starting the Franco-Prussian War - and, after a short, unsuccessful stint as a republic, the monarchy was restored when Isabella's son Alfonso XIII was chosen as King. John Van der Kiste leads us through his popular reign, the reign of his son - who married one of Queen Victoria's granddaughters - and the socialist movement in Spain after the Great War which led to the dictatorship of Primo de Rovera. Finishing with the Spanish Civil War, the 'reign' of General Franco and the return of the monarchy with the present King, Juan Carlos, this is a fascinating look at the Spanish Bourbons.

The Kingdom of God was a major topic of discussion between Jesus and His disciples. Much of Jesus' teachings were built upon the foundation of kingdom truths and spiritual realities. Jesus, on many occasions spoke of doing the will of the One who sent Him. The will of His Father was the driving force of His purpose in the flesh. He came to do the Father's will. Jesus' primary goal was the establishment of the Father's will on the earth. As Jesus would move and act and speak on behalf of His Father the kingdom of heaven, through His life, would be in full advance, made obvious by the supernatural demonstrations of the Spirit. Strongholds were smashed, prisoners were set free, and the kingdom of darkness was falling! Jesus, by the authority given Him from the Father, walked this earth in the liberty of the kingdom of heaven, and put into motion the Father's plan to reconcile all things back to Himself. But the message does not end there. The same things that Jesus taught and did throughout His ministry He would later pass on to His disciples. At the close of Jesus' earthly ministry He would bestow upon them the mandate of His Father to preach the Gospel of the kingdom to every nation, tribe and tongue. They were to do what He did. They were not going to be alone in this endeavor but would have with them, living in them, the Holy Spirit — the Helper. On the Day of Pentecost the kingdom had come in power and had transformed their lives. Through the release of God's kingdom into the earth the disciples went about turning the world upside down. This same transformative power — the power of the kingdom of God is still here today. God is in the process of restoring a kingdom paradigm — a kingdom mindset back to the church. In "The Kingdom Is At Hand" Pastor Jason R. Harris gives us his own unique perspective on the nature of the kingdom of God. In this book you will learn such truths as: • The kingdom is the will of the king. • The king is a direct reflection of His kingdom. • The edicts of the king are the rights of the citizens. • AND many more... Join Pastor Harris in discovering the kingdom of God and begin to walk in the truths revealed in this book.

I was asked recently why I decided to write this book when there are numerous "famous" authors on the subject? The question took me by surprise, but as I pondered my reasons, my response was two-fold: - I wanted to write a book that the general public (lay persons) could read with a high degree of comprehension, using word structure that is common in everyday language. - I wanted the book to lend itself to being used as the material for a detailed Bible study on the end-times. I am currently working on a journal to complement the book. As the reader works through the chapters of this book, he/she will discover: - how Daniel's prophecies predict the seven years of Tribulation. These prophecies serve as the backbone of this book; - why Christ chose the seven churches in chapters 2 and 3; - details about the rapture . . . when it will occur, who is involved""Don't be left behind; - details of the Judgment Seat of Christ; - details of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse; - description of the Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets, and Seven Bowls""when they occur, their devastation and purpose; - the Antichrist""discussed in detail; - details about the great revival during the first months of Tribulation; - who the two witnesses are and their purpose during the first half of Tribulation; - details regarding the Marriage Supper of the Lamb; - fascinating details of the Glorious Appearing and Armageddon; - surprising revelations about Satan; - details of the Judgment of the Sheep and Goats and the Great White Throne Judgment; - fascinating details about the Millennial Reign of Christ; - how many Books of Life exist. Are there more than one? - a full discussion of the New Heaven and New Earth; - the author's "time line" of events that happened during the seven-year Tribulation Period and beyond.

Some dreams or visions, if they are symbolic in nature, require an interpretation. This unique book "Daniel: Understanding the Dreams and Visions" unlocks and explains the structure and mysteries of the prophecies in the book of Daniel. It reveals the keys that the prophet Daniel has presented to unlock the prophecies of the Bible. "Daniel" expounds the prophecies in four distinct visions of how God has revealed the rise and fall of the seven earthly kingdoms/empires many centuries in advance. The truths of these prophecies have withstood every attack from every scholar and skeptic. According to the Talmud and the Hebrew Scriptures, Daniel received and interpreted dreams and visions, similar to many other Jewish prophets. This new book brings much needed clarity to the text of the prophecies of Daniel through the definitions of codewords, maps, pictures, illustrations, charts, tables and secular historical records. The Author adds comments only where necessary. An understanding of the Old Testament book of Daniel will set the foundation for a better understanding the prophecies in the book of Revelation. In this book the author adopts a detailed but simple approach to an intricate and complex web of prophetic truths of coming world events. The object of this book is to clarify the symbolisms and cryptic codes in the ancient yet futuristic prophecies of Daniel. For as Jesus said, "And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe."JOHN 14:29. "Take heed that no man deceive you." Matt. 24:4.

J.R.R. Tolkien's novels of Middle-earth – The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and The Silmarillian – have become some of the most famous, and most beloved, literary works of the twentieth century. And the Lord of the Rings films by director Peter Jackson have re-ignited interest in Tolkien and his works, as well as introduced his stories to a new generation of fans. Even if you've never read the novels and have only seen the films, you know that the world of Middle-earth is a complicated one. Tolkien took great care in representing this world, from creating new languages to including very particular cultural details that add to the richness of the world's fabric. Many other books have been written about Tolkien and his works, but none have come close to providing the kind of reference needed to comprehend the world of Middle-earth. That's what veteran Dummies author and unabashed Tolkien fan Greg Harvey attempts to do in The Origins of Tolkien's Middle-earth For Dummies. As the author says in his introduction to the book, this is not an encyclopedia or quick guide to all the diverse beings, languages, and history that make up Tolkien's Middle-earth. Nor is it a set of plot outlines for the novels. Rather, what you'll find in The Origins of Tolkien's Middle-earth For Dummies is a basic guide to some of the possible linguistic and mythological origins of Middle-earth, plus a rudimentary analysis of its many themes and lessons for our world. This book can help enrich your reading (or re-reading) of Tolkien's novels, and it will challenge you to think about the themes inherent in Tolkien's Middle-earth and their implications in your own life. Here's just a sampling of the topics you'll find covered in The Origins of Tolkien's Middle-earth For Dummies: Exploring the main themes in Tolkien's works, including immortality and death; the heroic quest; love; fate and free will; and faith and redemption Investigating the diverse lands of Middle-earth – including the Shire, Gondor, and Mordor – and their significance Examining the different cultures of Middle-earth, such as Hobbits, Elves, Men, and those wily Wizards Touring the history of Middle-earth Understanding Tolkien's creation of new languages to enrich the story of Middle-earth Top Ten lists on the battles in the War of the Ring, online resources, and the ways the films differ from the novels So, whether you're reading Tolkien's novels or watching the films for the first time, or you've been a fan for many years and are looking for a new take on Tolkien's works, The Origins of Tolkien's Middle-earth For Dummies can help you enhance your reading or viewing experience for years to come.
