This is a fascinating and powerful autobiographical interview of one of the most prominent and outspoken Cardinals appointed by Pope Francis. The biography alone is inspirational. But Cardinal Sarah’s commentary on Christian living in the modern world and his response to the controversial issues of the day—including the upcoming ordinary Synod of Bishops—are profound and invigorating. Robert Sarah is the only son of a convert Catholic couple who lived in a remote village of Guinea, West Africa. Inspired by the zeal of the Spiritan missionary priests who made great sacrifices to bring the Faith to Africans in the most neglected regions, his parents became Catholics. Robert discerned a call to the priesthood and entered the local seminary, but due to the oppression of the Church by the Communist dictator of Guinea, he had to continue his studies in France and then in nearby Senegal. He was appointed Archbishop of Conakry, Guinea by John Paul II, becoming the youngest Bishop in the Catholic Church. His predecessor had been imprisoned by the Communist regime for several years, and Archbishop Sarah himself—because of his refusal to be coopted by the President—was at the top of the governments list for assassination when John Paul II called him to Rome to be Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him to be the Prefect of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum. Here is a sample of his commentary on current issues of the day: “The idea of putting Magisterial teaching in a beautiful display case while separating it from pastoral practice, which then could evolve along with circumstances, fashions and passions, is a sort of heresy, a dangerous schizophrenic pathology. I therefore solemnly state that the Church in Africa is staunchly opposed to any rebellion against the teaching of Jesus and of the Magisterium . . . The Church of Africa is committed in the name of the Lord Jesus to keeping unchanged the teaching of God and of the Church about the indissolubility of marriage: what God has joined, let no man put asunder. How could a Synod go back on the constant teaching that was unified and explained in greater depth by Blessed Paul VI, Saint John Paul II and Benedict XVI?" -Cardinal Robert Sarah

Once a man sat in room. He felt closed in. There were no windows, doors or exits. But one of those walls was an illusion. Which wall is an illusion and would make the biggest difference in the world if we could see through it or take it down? It is said that the future of society depends on how well it treats the marginalized and the forgotten. What if the wall or illusion is not between the oppressed and oppressor, or the poor and the rich? What if we simply do not understand friendship or intimacy? What if the original wall is between woman and man, beauty and truth? What happens if we have man without woman, or woman without man, or truth without beauty? Herein lies the illusion. In a separation of truth from beauty, men from women, people become objects, disposable and replaceable. The author shows us the wondrous simplicity of evolved lives and a changed world that is possible through spiritual and intellectual evolution.

One of the most influential voices in contemporary theology delivers “a deeply original, meticulously written” new approach to the way we think about God (Jack Miles, author of God: A Biography). In this long-awaited work, Ray L. Hart offers a radical speculative theology that profoundly challenges classical understandings of the divine. God Being Nothing contests the conclusions of numerous orthodoxies through a probing question: How can thinking of God reach closure when the subjects of creation are themselves unfinished, when God’s self-revelation in history is ongoing, and when the active manifestation of God is still occurring? A renowned theologist and author of the landmark text Unfinished Man and the Imagination, Ray L. Hart now asks us to imagine God perpetually in process: an unfinished God being self-created from nothingness. Breaking away from the traditional focus on divine persons, Hart reimagines the Trinity in terms of theogony, cosmogony, and anthropogony in order to reveal an ever-emerging Godhead who encompasses all of temporal creation and, within it, human existence. In Hart’s stunning vision, God’s continual generation from nothing manifests the full actualization of freedom: the freedom to create ex nihilo.

Meister Eckhart, a now-popular medieval German mystic, provides the contemporary person with a way of living that centers on nothing but God in everyday life. He insists that everyone--whatever they have done, whatever they believe--is one with God. Because of this, the good Meister sees no opposition between our spiritual and daily lives. We access oneness with God through letting go. Bliss and freedom flow from giving birth to this divine oneness right where we are. This book intends to help us live this everyday mysticism by prayer and letting go. Meister Eckhart invites all of us to realize our divine oneness in the midst of raising a family, commuting, doing our jobs, cooking, cleaning, and scheduling. Meister Eckhart preaches that God is one with every one of us in our everyday lives.

God Owes Us Nothing reflects on the centuries-long debate in Christianity: how do we reconcile the existence of evil in the world with the goodness of an omnipotent God, and how does God's omnipotence relate to people's responsibility for their own salvation or damnation. Leszek Kolakowski approaches this paradox as both an exercise in theology and in revisionist Christian history based on philosophical analysis. Kolakowski's unorthodox interpretation of the history of modern Christianity provokes renewed discussion about the historical, intellectual, and cultural omnipotence of neo-Augustinianism. "Several books a year wrestle with that hoary conundrum, but few so dazzlingly as the Polish philosopher's latest."—Carlin Romano, Washington Post Book World "Kolakowski's fascinating book and its debatable thesis raise intriguing historical and theological questions well worth pursuing."—Stephen J. Duffy, Theological Studies "Kolakowski's elegant meditation is a masterpiece of cultural and religious criticism."—Henry Carrigan, Cleveland Plain Dealer

We do know that God is love and everything He does is out of His love for you. God’s love is so glorious, magnificent, and splendid that He sent His son to die on the cross for you to free you from sin. God gave His son’s life for yours. Jesus died so you could live. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” God shows His love for you by not only forgiving you of your sins, but by bringing you into His family. He has qualified you to share in His inheritance of the saints. (Col 1:12) This inheritance includes salvation, strength, hope, peace, comfort, wisdom, fellowship and so much more! God's love justifies your life and fills you with hope for the future. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” Death has no power over those who love and are loved by God. And that is you and that is me. Paul the Apostle says he does not believe that anything can separate us from the love of God. God loves you and your insecurities. He is teaching you how to love yourself and how to love others. He is showing you the true meaning of His agape love and what it means to truly be loved. Love is the greatest gift one could ever give, and it is the greatest gift one can ever receive. The bible says that out of faith, hope and love, love is the greatest of the three. You have that love. Romans 8:35-39 NKJV “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” God loves you in-spite of your mistakes. You can mess up and God will still love you. Isn’t that great to know that there is someone who loves you unconditionally? Get the book and be blessed!

Rose Marie Miller, a living example of God’s power in weakness, weaves together biblical insights and personal experience and shares a new, gospel-driven way of living where the way up is down, the weak become strong, and the dead receive life. God, for whom nothing is impossible, uses weak people to change the world.

The clock struck twelve-thirty on March 21, 1998, on the dawn of a new day. And though Agnes Greene was unaware at the time, she had just begun a new phase of her journey on earth. Much like the Old Testament character Job, she encountered a major crisis that shook her world. One minute she was talking on the phone, and the next minute she was face to face with death. In this memoir, Greene—with special memories from family members—narrates not only her personal struggle to survive four Grand Mal seizures and a brain tumor the size of a lemon, but also the deep spiritual truths learned during the journey. God is Sovereign, i am nothing tells the story of Greene's life-changing transformation and her understanding of how God's sovereignty and her nothingness can exist in perfect harmony. This inspirational and uplifting memoir delivers the message that, with faith in God, any obstacle can be overcome.

A false gospel is not to be judged so when its errors reach a certain point, but in the fact that it contains any error at all! Doctrinal error is indicative of a false gospel. One of the clearest examples of how little it takes to besmirch God's Gospel and change it into a lie is shown by Paul in his letter to the Galatians. "Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, CHRIST SHALL PROFIT YOU NOTHING" (Gal. 5:2). ...If a person turns to, and relies upon, anything they have done in order to get saved and/or remain saved then Christ shall profit them nothing. Christ cannot be called on as Savior by these people for they do not fully trust in Him. ...those who claim that whatever it is they must do is only possible because of God's bestowing the grace which enables them to do it, are abiders in a false gospel, a gospel which is not about grace but may be rightly termed a gospel of DIS-GRACE!!

Material Falsity and Error in Descartes’s Meditations approaches Descartes’s Meditations as an intellectual journey, wherein Descartes’s views develop and change as he makes new discoveries about self, God and matter. The first book to focus closely on Descartes’s notion of material falsity, it shows how Descartes’s account of material falsity – and correspondingly his account of crucial notions such as truth, falsehood and error – evolves according to the epistemic advances in the Meditations. It also offers important new insights on the crucial role of Descartes’s Third Meditation discussion of material falsity in advancing many subsequent arguments in the Meditations. This book is essential reading for those working on Descartes and early modern philosophy. It presents an independent reading on issues of perennial interest, such as Descartes’s views on error, truth and falsehood. It also makes important contributions to topics that have been the focus of much recent scholarship, such as Descartes’s ethics and his theodicy. Those working on the interface between medieval and modern philosophy will find the discussions on Descartes’s debt to predecessors like Suárez and Augustine invaluable.

In this engaging introductory dialogue, Todd Moody maps the spectrum of philosophical arguments and counterarguments for the existence of God. Structuring colloquial conversations along classical lines, he presents a lively and accessible discussion of issues that are central to both theist and atheist thinking, including the burden of proof, the first cause, a necessary being, the natural order, suffering, miracles, experience as knowledge, and rationality without proof. The second edition is a significant and comprehensive revision. Moody broadens and deepens the conversation by addressing additional arguments, such as the problem of animal suffering, the moral argument, intelligent design, and human exceptionalism. The discussion of the cosmological argument is updated to reflect recent work on the Kalam Cosmological Argument. A short preface explains the scope of the work and the purpose of the dialogue form. Suggested further readings of contemporary and classical sources are also included.

Society, Representations and Textuality: The Critical Interface brings together papers from various critical perspectives of Humanities and Social Sciences. The work (a) takes stock of the recent developments in critical theory and cultural studies; (b) studies the impact of these developments on the understanding of social reality and the human predicament in India; and (c) brings together scholars from North East India who are engaged in the project of understanding society and communities in their chosen intellectual practice. The book is the first-ever attempt to establish a dialogic encounter between critical practices in Humanities and Social sciences, hitherto considered to be autonomous in their own disciplinary boundaries. Further, the volume addresses issues of identity and autonomy of a multicultural India, particularly with reference to the interface between hegemonic cultures and politically and culturally persistent smaller communities. A significant feature of this book is its attempt to theorize and describe the myriad manifestations of the critical interface between society and literary or cultural productions.
