Bugtussle, Tennessee, was a thriving tourist escape that featured a manmade lake until 1986, when Gilzen Dam, which was a source of water for the lake, was relocated, draining the beautiful lake and financially crippling the town. But today, things are about to change. Thirty-eight-year-old carpenter Bobby Baker was on his way to work when he learns through a surprise encounter with a wealthy businessman that Gilzen Dam is being relocated to its original spot, which could revive Lake Bugtussle. The businessman propositions Bobby and his crew of misfits to enter a building competition against Bobby’s lifelong rival to save his mother’s land. Heartfelt decisions will have to be made, and Bobby will need his family and friends more than ever.

Women's liberation sought to transform every sector of U.S. society--its educational system, culture, language, politics, and, importantly, the delivery of social services. To enable this movement, women all over the country began to establish women's centers. In New York City, women from almost every local women's liberation group took over an abandoned building in lower Manhattan on New Year's Eve, 1970. They named the building The Fifth Street Women's Building and renovated it to feed, clothe, shelter, and educate women in need. The take-over was a huge success, attracting hundreds of activists and community members. Thirteen days later, the New York City Tactical Police stormed the building, expelled the women, and ended the action. The City then tore the building down and built a parking lot on the site. June Arnold was one of the original planners and an active participant in this episode. When she got out of jail, she went home and wrote this novel about what happened. The Cook and the Carpenter, which quickly gained fame for its use of a non- gendered language, remains one of the best representations of the time period that berthed modern feminism and paved the way for lesbian communities.

The acclaimed Galician author’s novel of the Spanish Civil War is “a sincere and beautiful portrait of a brutal, ugly period of Spanish history” (The Guardian). Novelist and El País journalist Manuel Rivas has been heralded as one of the brightest in a new wave of Spanish authors. Originally written in Galician, his native language, The Carpenter’s Pencil was a bestseller in Spain and has been published in nine countries. Set in the dark days of the Spanish Civil War, The Carpenter’s Pencil charts the linked destinies of Dr. Daniel Da Barca, a Republican who cheats death in General Franco’s prisons; Herbal, an illiterate Falangist and Da Barca’s shadow; and an unnamed painter with the carpenter’s pencil, the man who unites them in life and death. It is also the story of Marisa Mallo, loved by both Da Barca and Herbal; Pepe Sánchez, the bolero singer; “Genghis Khan,” the wrestler; and the legend of two estranged sisters, Life and Death. All of these and more are bound by the events of the war. And all are rendered, in Rivas’s skillful hand, with the power of the carpenter’s pencil, a pencil that draws both the measured line and the artist’s fanciful vision.

In my old life, Tanner Lochlan was more than the boy next door. He was my best friend. In my new life, he absolutely hates me. Hell freezing over: that’s when I swore I’d come back here. Turns out, all it took was six years, a funeral, and a nasty car crash I’m told I was lucky to survive. In the aftermath, I can’t remember much about my supposedly great, new life. But I remember my old one. I remember Tanner, and the way he makes my heart disintegrate with one inked-out glance. We fall again fast, so hard it hurts—even though we both know, when I leave again...it'll hurt much, much worse. In my old life, I believed Tanner could erase nights from history. Polish them off the face of the earth. Pick my splintered pieces out of the stardust in this universe and make them whole. Back then, I thought Tanner could fix anything. But he can’t fix me. * * * In another life, Skye Michaels would be mine. In this life? She vanished. No note, no clues, no warning. This isn’t the girl I knew. The one I swam with in the river after school, or kissed under tree branches...the girl I used to love. But no matter how much Skye changes, I’m still addicted to what she does to me. God help me—I think I like it. The Carpenter’s Wedding is a standalone, second-chance romance with an HEA, steamy scenes, and no cliffhanger. It is the second book in the Now Entering Hillford series by Piper Lennox. For centuries rumors have spread in regards to a map that told about the location of perhaps the most sacred artifact known to mankind – the cross which Jesus was crucified upon. What makes this map so valuable is the cartographer who created it – Jesus Christ Himself! Come with us now as we search for its location with our heroes, Fathers Luke O’Malley and Roy Hanley, along with Professor Philip Kasstajet and his constant companion and dearest and loyal friend Numomo Tobasso. Together, they embark for distant lands: Mozambique, Spain, Ireland, and Malta. Only to be separated back in the States between Key West, New York, and Maine. As if this wasn’t enough excitement, add to the boiling cauldron, the ever--present Levi Al Natas, old Satan himself! So find a comfortable seat and make sure all the doors and windows are secure. You are about to take a trip which will leave you guessing, what will happen next – right up to the last page. If you are not satisfied with how most modern novels come to a sanitary conclusion, you will be asking and craving for more books to be written like The Map of the Carpenter.
