A powerful true story of loss and hope by one of the biggest names in sports media. On September 11, 2001, Joe Maio went to work in the north tower of the World Trade Center. He never returned, leaving behind a wife, Sharri, and 15-month old son, Devon. Five years later, Sharri remarried, and Devon welcomed a new dad into his life. For thousands, the whole country really, 9/11 is a day of grief. For Adam and Sharri Maio Schefter and their family it’s not just a day of grief, but also hope. This is a story of 9/11, but it’s also the story of 9/12 and all the days after. Life moved on. Pieces were picked up. New dreams were dreamed. The Schefters are the embodiment of that. This book will give voice to all those who have chosen to keep living. It’s gratifying and beautiful. But also messy and hard. Like most families. Except that one day every year history comes roaring back. How do you embrace that? How do you honor that? The Man I Never Met is also a peek at Adam Schefter, the man behind the headlines and injury reports; a real person who has a real family. His book will follow in the path of recent ESPN books by Tom Rinaldi and the late Stuart Scott – books that have transcended sport to examine the raw emotion of life.

Worldly, sophisticated and some days bright, imagine when she answered a personal ad and discovered Roger, a white-collar criminal, a cunning con man was on the other end. They dated for twelve months. Within thirteen weeks after their last date, he would be residing in federal prison. Roger was a happy hustler, eccentric, neurotic sociopath. He was also a polite, charming, charismatic lady-killer, however, not in the literal sense. He broke hearts and created chaos early on in a relationship coupled with a way to relieve women of their money and undies ASAP. He resided quite comfortably in his insane imagination. It was only natural to commit insurance fraud, credit card fraud and break into elaborate computer systems in 5 star hotels, high end shops, and several top companies in the tri state area, eventually Florida and points west. Shaw must have had Roger in mind when he penned, "the more things a man is ashamed of, the more respectable he is." Roger, along with several captivating compelling characters and their stories, are in your hands begging to be read.

In the early hours of 30 April 1943, a corpse, wearing the uniform of an officer in the Royal Marines, was slipped into the waters off the south-west coast of Spain. With it was a briefcase, in which were papers detailing an imminent Allied invasion of Greece. As the British had anticipated, the supposedly neutral government of Fascist Spain turned the papers over to the Nazi High Command, who swallowed the story whole. it was perhaps the most decisive bluff of all time, for the Allies had not such plan: the purpose of 'Operation Mincemeat' was to blind the German High Command to their true objective - an attack on Southern Europe through Sicily. Though officially shrouded in secrecy, the operation soon became legendary (in part owing to Churchill's post-war habit of telling the story at dinner). it gave rise to two very different books. In 1950 came Duff Cooper's poignant navel Operation Heartbreak, a romantic tale, one which the government - right up to PM Clement Attlee - attempted to suppress. Its publication prompted the intelligence service to pressurise the operation's mastermind, Ewen Montagu, into writing a factual account, The Man Who Never Was. This book presents two accounts, fictional and factual, of one of the greatest intelligence operations ever undertaken, with an introduction by Duff Cooper's son, John Julius Norwich.

He bathed her with love, bathed her, bathed her and finally drowned her completely into his love. Saratu loves him with the truest love of her heart. As matter-of-factly, they were head over heels in love. They admired each other, they adored each other, they allured each other, they liked each other, they want each other, they need each other, they beseechingly desired each other and they loved each other like politicians with corruptions. They declared their love for each other and not so long they stood in front of an overfilled church congregation to publicly declare their love for each other in a one-in-town society marriage. They swam in their love and lived very, very comfortable and happily in love. Saratu wasn’t in need of anything, even sex. Bindul gave her all the practical part of love, the love that was made in heaven for a woman, that kind of love that made her feel as though she was the only EVE with the only ADAM in this modern world and she was wholly dependable on it. Like King Solomon to his wives and concubines, Bindul lavished Saratu with the sweetest lovely words and praises. He gave her all that she needed in life. But when Saratu later discovered that her husband was still madly in love with Jimikat, his primeval girlfriend, things wasn’t the same again for her. Their loveliest sex-packed marriage suffered a temporary drought of sex. Saratu first run to her dear friend, Dakmikat for help. "Cocheta" is a Native American word meaning "That you cannot imagine," an appropriate name for America's "blackest" research facility. Hidden inside a mountain in a remote and inhospitable region of the frigid Canadian Rockies, the massive complex is a high-tech laboratory for a handful of the most brilliant minds on earth. Together, they struggle to understand and duplicate exotic extraterrestrial technology before America's enemies do... or before an unspeakable horror arrives from deep space. Benjamin Hanson, PhD is the project's greatest resource... and a dying man. His ultimate goal: unite the world in developing a defense against what he believes to be a coming invasion. To make it happen, he needs a clever plan. One that will topple a well-established culture of secrecy, allow him to evade those who watch his every move and neutralize a ruthless bureaucrat before the cruel tentacles of incurable cancer rob him of his life. The Hanson Legacy chronicles Ben Hanson's life, from a humble childhood in a rural Oklahoma town to his climactic struggle with an evil, self-absorbed administrator determined to keep secret the other-worldly horrors hidden in Cocheta Mountain... and lethal "accidents" involving more than a dozen retired project scientists. The fate of the entire planet may very well rest on the outcome of Dr. Hanson's vital and final mission. Sacrifice, devotion, duty, honor... and a timeless, beautiful love story that endures vicious tragedy and desolate separation. The Hanson Legacy transcends the Sci-Fi genre and will leave you anxiously waiting for Book Two: The Hanson Conundrum! "The story grabbed me by the throat from the first page and left me almost breathless until the exciting climactic scenes. The characters are strong, superbly developed and totally believable... If you read this book, make sure you have a long flight or a few free days ahead of you --- you won't be able to put it down!" As Dominique strolled across the enormous lobby of the Hotel, stopping a moment to remove her shoes, as the tiny pumps had left sweltering blisters upon her dainty feet; she took no notice of the man who sat, silently in a high back leather chair, observing her. She had no way of knowing, as she stepped on to that elevator with shoes in hand, that she was the focal point of something sinister. As the doors closed and she disappeared from his sight the man pulled a commlink from inside his jacket and quickly pressed the button that would contact his associate. 'She just got into the elevator," he said. 'Is she alone?" 'Yes. He dropped her off at the front entrance and left." 'Good. We don't have much time. Get her."

Oney realized early in his career that he was interested in how men face challenges and cope with success and failure, seeing in their struggles something of his own. Written over a forty-year period for publications including Esquire, Premiere, GQ, TIME, Los Angeles, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Magazine, the stories, many prizewinning, bring to life the famous (Harrison Ford), the brilliant (Robert Penn Warren), the tortured (Gregg Allman), and the unknown (Chris Leon, a twenty-year-old Marine Corps corporal killed in the Iraq war).
