'We can't change things here, that's the whole point, no one listens to us or cares, the only way we're gonna change things is by going somewhere else, starting afresh.' A group of disillusioned young women have disappeared. On a platform out at sea, they have formed The Community - a new type of society and a better way of living. But how can you change the world if you've taken yourself out of it? This Changes Everything by Joel Horwood is part of Platform, an initiative from Tonic Theatre in partnership with Nick Hern Books aimed at addressing gender imbalance and inequality in theatre. Platform comprises big-cast plays with predominantly or all-female casts, written specifically for performance by school, college and youth-theatre groups. 'Drama is an important tool for building confidence and empowering young people. Platform will give girls opportunity to access these benefits as much as their male counterparts.' - Moira Buffini

Praise for This Changes Everything: 'This is a lovely, uplifting book that transported me away, firstly to the beautiful city of Rome and then to gorgeous Cornwall. It’s a moving and emotional story of families in all their messy wonderfulness, of people losing one another, and then coming together again - sometimes in unexpected ways. A hugely enjoyable family tale, it was exactly what I wanted to read at this time.' Louise Douglas ‘This Changes Everything is the perfect tonic. An uplifting, forget-about-everything-else read that I couldn’t put down. Romantic, emotional and page-turning, Helen McGinn’s debut novel can’t fail to cheer you up!' Zoe Folbigg 'I loved reading this book. I needed escapism - don't we all need escapism right now - and it gave me Rome, Cornwall and a family who immediately felt like old friends. I took it to the bath, to bed and had finished it within 24 hours. It was the perfect antidote to tough times.' Victoria Moore, The Daily Telegraph

The physicist and author investigates the 20th century scientific revolution that changed our lives—and how it can go further—in this provocative essay. Much of the modern world we experience day to day has been profoundly transformed by a scientific revolution that began in the early twentieth century. But what has science done for us lately? In This Changes Everything, author and scientist Colin Gillespie suggests that the revolution has barely gotten off the ground. In fact—it’s still stuck between two competing Theories of Everything. While celebrating the victories of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics, Gillespie attempts to uncover what holds us back from reaching even greater accomplishments. Looking at the work of physicists from Albert Einstein to Stephen Hawking and beyond, Gillespie proposes a thought experiment that leads to some startling conclusions. His provocative new take on cosmology and physics offers an elegant insight that truly changes everything.

My name is Jaquelle, and I'm a teenager. I like football movies, sushi, and dark chocolate. But the biggest, most crucial, most significant thing about me is that my life’s task is to follow Jesus. He is the One who changed my life. That’s what this book is about. It’s for teenagers eager to reject the status quo and low standards our culture sets for us. It’s for those of us who don’t want to spend the adolescent years slacking off, but rather standing out and digging deep into what Jesus says about following him. This book will help you see how the truth about God changes everything—our relationships, our time, our sin, our habits, and more—freeing us to live joyful, obedient, and Christ-exalting lives, even while we’re young.

'This generous, useful and important book is a delight to read and will fundamentally change the way you interact with people' - Mikael Krogerus and Roman Tschäppeler, authors of The Communication Book How often do you interrupt? How often do people interrupt you? Can you remember the last time someone listened to you all the way through your thinking? In her new book, Nancy Kline, bestselling author of Time To Think, makes this radical proposal: 'I won't Interrupt you' is a promise that changes everything. It deepens relationships, spawns dignity, raises the intelligence of groups, and enriches every conversation. It may, in fact, be the most important promise we ever make. And the hardest to keep. This promise matters because when we interrupt each other, we interrupt our thinking, and that interrupts the quality of everything we do. Nancy has spent the last three decades researching independent thinking and the barriers that prevent us from thinking for ourselves. In The Promise That Changes Everything Nancy shares insights into the nature of interruption, case studies and stories from her work with clients, as well as simple ways to change how we behave with each other so that this promise can change our lives. 'As living and working become more complex, the lessons and practices here will shift a sense of chaos to one of clarity and a mindset of fear to one of hope. It could not have come at a better moment' Margaret Heffernan, bestselling author of Wilful Blindness 'This timely and persuasive book shows us that the foundation for independent thinking is the promise to actually listen, without interruption, to what others have to say' Cal Newport, bestselling author of Digital Minimalism

A revived faith starts with a revived prayer life. This book will help you develop the faith and prayer life that God desires for you. What if your communication with God became as vibrant as the interaction between you and your best friend? What if God literally responded to your praise, your worship, and your requests? This is absolutely God's will for your prayer life! For many, prayer is only a matter of blessing their food, asking for help during a crisis, or whispering a need when they feel they are at the end of their rope. Unfortunately, this barely scratches the surface of the prayer life God wants to share with us. In Prayer That Changes Everything, Mary Colbert unpacks five principles to revolutionize readers' faith and help them experience the full dimension of the relationship they can have with God through prayer. She challenges readers to: Recognize that faith is alive and must be in action Live with a faith that excites God Realize that faith is the substance of all things See the thing they want God to do as done and begin to praise Him for it; and know that love is the fuel Whether a new believer or a longtime Christian, each reader will find accessible, fresh insights into prayer and practical wisdom that will revitalize his or her prayer life and transform his or her relationship with God.

Climate change is already a systemic risk to the global economy. While there is a large body of literature documenting potential economic consequences, there is scarce research on the link between climate change and sovereign risk. This paper therefore investigates the impact of climate change vulnerability and resilience on sovereign bond yields and spreads in 98 advanced and developing countries over the period 1995–2017. We find that the vulnerability and resilience to climate change have a significant impact on the cost government borrowing, after controlling for conventional determinants of sovereign risk. That is, countries that are more resilient to climate change have lower bond yields and spreads relative to countries with greater vulnerability to risks associated with climate change. Furthermore, partitioning the sample into country groups reveals that the magnitude and statistical significance of these effects are much greater in developing countries with weaker capacity to adapt to and mitigate the consequences of climate change.
