When Daniel wakes up to discover a woman, naked and recovering from a savage attack, his first instincts are those of a detective. The woman is not a stranger, however. His life will change as the woman becomes entwined not only with his life but also with his heart. The woman, Michael Braun, is scared, homeless, and unsure of what is happening. Daniel Hartman is an intimately familiar stranger, who, without hesitation, wraps her in his protective arms and steals her heart. Can she keep herself and the man she loves safe without losing more than her soul? Will Detective Hartman become a pawn in a killers twisted game of revenge? Will he become his lovers dagger, or will he go through the fire to save what he has found?

TO: AL_CRANE@CSSENTINEL.ORG FROM: COLLEEN_MONTGOMERY@CSSENTINEL.ORG Boss, I'm finishing my article about the Vance Memorial Hospital fire. No fatalities, although several people, including firefighter Lucia Vance and visiting wildfire expert Raphael Wright, were treated for smoke inhalation. I'm trying to stay unbiased—Lucia's a friend—but she's under investigation for disobeying orders, and I think Chief O'Brien is casting suspicion on her to cover himself. Word is he has some hefty debts. Raphael is only too willing to help clear Lucia's name—romance is brewing. It seems as if the Vances are being targeted…but by whom, and why?

The ideas presented within these pages can help the reader focus on improving self and community through imagination and thinking. There is hope for change when the inspiration comes from within. When it comes to freedom of thought, it is easier to change one mind at a time than entire cultures. As long as there are individuals who express optimism for such change, there is hope for all of us. The topics cover common themes that people and society come across while passing through the fire of daily life. These themes are about all of us. They are about time, space, matter, spirit, humanism, and universalism. They attempt to explain by seeding the complex with the simple. There are no endings, only beginnings in awareness when its purpose is to unify consciousness on Earth with universal life. When this occurs rightly, our perceptions will move us into that next stage of being: universal inclusiveness and its eternal expansion.

Anna thought that they did until one dreaded Labor Day, when the sky fell, the sun grew dark, and she embarked upon a journey from which she would emerge completely altered (STF - Chapter One)." Anna's faith is no match for the inconceivable news that her brother Billy, the most stable presence in her young life, is dying of AIDS. Author Claire Anderson, whose own brother died in 1992, draws upon personal experience to build a poignant, yet thoughtful story of a young woman's reluctant initiation into the world of loss and grief. As the brigade he commanded attacked a Confederate battery on a hill outside Petersburg in July 1864, a bursting shell blew Col. Joshua L. Chamberlain from the saddle and wounded his horse. After the enemy battery skedaddled, the brigade took the hill and dug in, and up came supporting Union guns. Chamberlain figured the day’s fighting ended. Then an unidentified senior officer ordered his brigade to charge and capture the heavily defended main Confederate line. Chamberlain protested the order, then complied, taking his men forward—until a bullet slammed through his groin and left him mortally wounded. Miraculously surviving a nighttime battlefield surgery, he returned home to convalesce as a brigadier general following an impromptu deathbed promotion. Struggling with pain and multiple surgeries, Chamberlain debated leaving the army or returning to the fight. His decision affected upcoming battles, his family, and the rest of his life. Passing Through the Fire: Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain in the Civil War chronicles Chamberlain’s swift transition from college professor and family man to regimental and brigade commander. A natural leader, he honed his fighting skills at Shepherdstown and Fredericksburg. Praised by his Gettysburg peers for leading the 20th Maine Infantry’s successful defense of Little Round Top—an action that would eventually earn him Civil War immortality—Chamberlain experienced his most intense combat after arriving at Petersburg. Drawing on Chamberlain’s extensive memoirs and writings and multiple period sources, historian Brian F. Swartz follows Chamberlain across Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia while examining the determined warrior who let nothing prevent him from helping save the United States.

Born 1970 in Georgia, Linda Tyler was the fifth child of her mother's six children. I birthed three children of my own in 1986 having had my first child at age sixteen. Dropping out of high school at age fifteen. Later birthing two more children at age nineteen and around twenty-three. Still struggling to find my purpose in life, taking to the streets at an early age only to realize, looking for love in all the wrong places would lead me down a path of self-destruction. Soon I found myself walking in my own mother's footsteps, birthing children that I wasn't caring for, raising, nurturing, and teaching them how to grow, and to become smart, respectable, loving, moral, and vibrant young men and women. Later in life in the early 2000s, I went back to school and received my diploma. This was a huge accomplishment for me! I knew without education I would be stagnant in my growth in life. Another great accomplishment happen also in the early 2000s. I met a nice guy who later became the love of my life, who later on became my husband, Romeo Lewis, who inspired me to be a better woman, mother, person, etc. A man that made me fill whole again! A man that became a huge father figure that my children didn't have. A man that loved all his children and grandchildren as well, that loves his family unconditionally. I want to share my story to inspire and help other young adults out there that maybe facing some of the same hardships as myself. Don't give up and don't give in, we all have a purpose to fulfill in one's lifetime. Keep the faith, and if you fall get back up! Ecclesiastes 9:11 reads, "The race is not won to the swift, but to the one who endureth till the end." PS: if I can do it, so can you!
