Born in a small town in Puerto Rico, Veronica "Ronnie" Williams felt she could reach places no woman had reached in history. Her father, United States Navy Lieutenant James Williams and his Puerto Rican-born wife, Maria Ramirez, notice that their little girl is exceptionally intelligent, decisive, and quick-thinking. Soon, Ronnie's actions confirm her parents' early observations. Eventually, she graduates with honors from West Point. One of her superior officers, General Mark Hemmond, sees possibilities for Ronnie before she does, believing she will reach heights beyond anyone's imagination. It isn't until General Hemmond asks Ronnie to serve as a liaison between the military and the politicians that she starts on the fast track to the White House. Ronnie goes from the Special Forces to the Pentagon, impressing everyone in her path. But even though she's scaled the military ladder, there are more obstacles to come. The very fact that she's a woman-and a Puerto Rican woman-may end up costing her the presidency. Novelist Christopher Dupre's Sine Dubio-Without a Doubt is an entertaining political thriller that showcases one woman's fight to overcome all obstacles to become president of The United States.

On their 100th anniversary, the story of the extraordinary scientific expeditions that ushered in the era of relativity In 1919, British scientists led extraordinary expeditions to Brazil and Africa to test Albert Einstein’s revolutionary new theory of general relativity in what became the century’s most celebrated scientific experiment. The result ushered in a new era and made Einstein a global celebrity by confirming his dramatic prediction that the path of light rays would be bent by gravity. Today, Einstein’s theory is scientific fact. Yet the effort to “weigh light” by measuring the gravitational deflection of starlight during the May 29, 1919, solar eclipse has become clouded by myth and skepticism. Could Arthur Eddington and Frank Dyson have gotten the results they claimed? Did the pacifist Eddington falsify evidence to foster peace after a horrific war by validating the theory of a German antiwar campaigner? In No Shadow of a Doubt, Daniel Kennefick provides definitive answers by offering the most comprehensive and authoritative account of how expedition scientists overcame war, bad weather, and equipment problems to make the experiment a triumphant success. The reader follows Eddington on his voyage to Africa through his letters home, and delves with Dyson into how the complex experiment was accomplished, through his notes. Other characters include Howard Grubb, the brilliant Irishman who made the instruments; William Campbell, the American astronomer who confirmed the result; and Erwin Findlay-Freundlich, the German whose attempts to perform the test in Crimea were foiled by clouds and his arrest. By chronicling the expeditions and their enormous impact in greater detail than ever before, No Shadow of a Doubt reveals a story that is even richer and more exciting than previously known.

Why did I write this book? The answer to this question is very simple and plain. I received instructions from my Lord Jesus Christ during the first quarter of 2009 to write this book. After I received my call from the Lord Jesus Christ to go and make disciples of all nations, he began using me to hold bible studies in the market place, on different jobs where I worked, on the streets, over the radio in several states, and across different pulpits, not only where I pastored but in other churches as well—this started from blue collar workers to top notch executives. For several years I had the opportunity of visiting with different Christians from all walks of life and the Lord gave me two questions to ask them: 1. Are you a born again believer? Their answer would be Oh yes for several years now. 2. Do you have any idea of what God has called and destined you to do? Only 2 out of 10 would say I believe so. During several years of research I’ve found out that 80 percent of the body of Christ has no idea of what they are called to do in this earth. I had no idea of why God had me researching these questions for so many years, but now I can clearly see that he had this book in mind. What an awesome God we serve! While working in the Merger and Acquisition business in January of 2009 in Dallas, Texas, I was visiting with a firm’s director who is a very sharp Christian brother whom I’ve admired a lot because of his knowledge of the business world. I asked him the second research question; Do you know what God has called and destined you to do? His answer was no, and then I asked a colleague of mine the same question, his answer was also no. So while driving home that afternoon from the firm, just as you turn on a light in a dark room to see what’s in the room, light came on in my spirit, and there was a voice with that light saying, write a book on How to Know Without A Shadow of Doubt What God Has Called and Destined You To Do. So in obedience to my Lord Jesus Christ, here is the book that the Lord has given me instructions to write. This is not a book to read in your leisure time and then stick it somewhere on the shelf in your library, but this is a small compact book of revelation for application to help you know what you are called to do and help you to get in your place of assignment. God’s whole creation is waiting for the body of Christ to get in our place of destiny and do what we are called to do. God finished his work in six days! Jesus on the cross said that it is finished and gave up the ghost, died, and was placed in a borrowed tomb. He has risen on the third day and is now seated on the right hand of the Father making intercessions for the saints in the earth and has passed the Paton to the sons of God in the earth. Jesus and the Father are in heaven looking and waiting for the sons of God to complete our assignment that has been given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ, but the body of Christ is out of their place and have no idea of what they have been called and assigned to do. This book will help the body of Christ to find out what we have been called and assigned by the Lord to do so that we can all get in the place of assignment and complete the work that been assigned to our hands to do. The Blessing of the Lord is upon you!

What can we know about ourselves and the world through the sense of touch and what are the epistemic limits of touch? Scepticism claims that there is always something that slips through the epistemologist’s grasp. A Touch of Doubt explores the significance of touch for the history of philosophical scepticism as well as for scepticism as an embodied form of subversive political, religious, and artistic practice. Drawing on the tradition of scepticism within nineteenth- and twentieth-century continental philosophy and psychoanalysis, this volume discusses how the sense of touch uncovers contradictions within our knowledge of ourselves and the world. It questions 1) what we can know through touch, 2) what we can know about touch itself, and 3) how our experience of touching the other and ourselves throws us into a state of doubt. This volume is intended for students and scholars who wish to reconsider the experience of touching in intersections of philosophy, religion, art, and social and political practice.

In Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, N. Sivanandan, one of the longest-serving interpreters in Singapore’s judiciary, gives an insight into the work of a court interpreter. During his twenty years in the High Court and more than thirty years in the Subordinate Courts (now the State Courts), Sivanandan has interpreted in lengthy criminal cases — mostly murder, rape and robbery — and long, complicated civil trials before High Court judges, many with formidable reputations. Here are interesting cases that show what it is like standing next to the witness box and giving voice to the witness or litigant in a courtroom filled with their loved ones, judges, prosecuting officers and defence lawyers. This collection of experiences is enlivened by personal stories of the men on the bench, and life in the early days when the courts were situated in different areas and travelling between courts was itself an experience!
